What it does

A news producer does not make one cut. They make five.

Five stories in the running order, against a deadline that does not move. So that is the format we built first.

Pick the angles you want and press once. The panel builds a separate rough cut for each — several stories from the same rushes, in parallel, instead of one at a time while the clock runs down. Each one is shaped as a finished package rather than a pile of selects.

It also shows you where each story came from. Some are built from footage you already have; others are surfaced from research and would need sourcing. You see which is which before committing an hour to any of them.

News is the first template, not the only one. The same engine carries briefs for thematic documentary, observational reality, and long-form true crime. Describe the shape of your format once, and it applies that shape to every episode after. The fortieth episode costs no more to set up than the second.

Before it can do any of that

The panel works on material EdMon already knows.

Worth being blunt about early, because it decides whether this fits how you work. The panel reads transcripts and analysis, not raw video. Your footage has to be in EdMon and processed before the panel has anything to work with, and the same media has to be in the Premiere project you have open — it walks your bins and places clips from the masters already there.

Getting your footage in is the part that differs most between productions, so we do it with you rather than hand you a document. That is also why the round is small.

Adobe Premiere Pro: Version 14.0 or later. The panel appears under Window › Extensions › EdMon Assist.
An EdMon account: We set this up with you.
Footage in EdMon: Transcribed and analysed. How it gets there depends on how you shoot and hand over — we go through it on the setup call.
The same media in your bins: The panel matches each clip against what is already in your open project. Media that is not in the project comes in offline and needs relinking.
Real work: A project you are actually delivering. A beta on demo footage teaches us nothing.
Windows: Not supported yet. Tell us in your note if you are on PC — we want to know how big that need is.

That you run it on real work. That is the whole point.
That you tell us when it breaks. An email saying “this came out wrong” is worth more than praise.
Patience with an early build. See the note below — we are not hiding it.
Nothing else. No contract, no reference we require, no obligation to continue.

An honest caveat. This is an early build and it is not self-service. We install it with each tester personally, and we would rather tell you what grates than have you find it. If that sounds like more hand-holding than you want, wait for the next round — it will be a smoother product by then, and we will not have wasted your week.
